Upington

Mention the Northern Cape and the Kalahari, and the mind conjures up vision of desolate sun-baked plains where man’s mere existence is a daily struggle. But how wrong can one be. Trough the harsh landscape runs a glittering ribbon – the Orange River which brings its life-giving waters from the distant highlands of Lesotho to this part. The main centre of the green Kalahari region is Upington, a lush green oasis on the banks of the Orange River. With its excellent air, and road links with all other parts of the country.
